"Providing clinicians with new tools for treating patients as well as identifying subgroups of patients that are at increased risk for disease, or are prone to a specific health outcome is one of my ultimate goals."

The genetic and epigenetic factors that are implicated in human disease have always piqued my curiosity to great extent. Genetic and environmental influences contributing to the appearance of complex diseases, particularly the metabolic syndrome and diabetes, have been the focus of my research interests. The fact that Non-coding RNAs represent essential, yet not fully understood, components of the cellular gene expression network that may be disrupted in metabolic disorders such as diabetes and obesity is thrilling, and I am excited to immerse myself in this fascinating new field of research
