Interdisciplinary thinking to tackle obesity and type 2 diabetes

Obesity and its metabolic complications like cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes and cancers are steadily on the rise. Our inability to tackle this medical emergency at root is a reflection of the fact that we need deeper understanding of the molecular and genetic underpinnings of these modern lifestyle diseases. The Kornfeld group at SDU is an interdisciplinary research group consisting of geneticists, biochemists, RNA biologists and pharmacologists that are united in taking up this challenge.

We try to apply our interdisciplinary mindset and expertises to the task of raise understanding of metabolic regulation at the genomic, epigenomic and cellular level and ultimately finding novel, unconventional approaches to raise awareness and foster treatment of metabolic diseases.
