“Molecular Biology has always been my passion. I would like to better understand the dark, non-coding side of the genome and its innermost mechanisms”
My previous training mainly focussed on elucidating novel regulatory principles of the DNA damage response machinery and its effects on cell morphology. Trying to understand the genetic basis of complex diseases like obesity as well as the molecular circuits that underly disease development has always interested me. In my thesis I would like to use the opportunity to enter the emerging and fascinating field of Non-Coding RNA research. I hope my work will help to better understand the role of ncRNAs in diseases as prevalent as obesity in order to find new anti-RNA therapeutics as classical protein-centered compounds have largely failed in treating obese patients.
